What's New
What's New at Kew Beach Day Camp?
Thursday Theme Days for the Summer of 2009
Week 1 - "Medieval Day" Campers dress up in Medieval outfits and partipate in events like, "Miss Princess Pagent", a "Prove Your Knighthood Quest" and a vote to choose the "King and Queen".
Week 2 - "Wheel Day" While Thursday Theme Days are a new addition, Wheel Day has been a part of camp for years. Campers bring their bikes, skateboards, scooters, rollerblades, and unicylces (and helmets) and go on an "Amazing Race" scavenger hunt around the Beach Community on their wheels.
Week 3 - "Survivor" Like Wheel Day, Survivor has been a part of Kew Beach Day Camp since the begining of time (2001, specifically). Based on the Survivor realilty show, campers spend the morning competing in Immunity Challenges and "voting each other off the island".
Week 4 - "Big Brother" Expanding on the realility TV formula of Survivor, Big Brother is based on the television competition of the same name. In our Big Brother, however, campers are not always themselves. On the Tuesday before, campers use their dramatic talents to create a "character" that they wish to be on Thursday. Then, on Thursday, campers "move in" to the "Big Brother house" and compete for Head of Household and Veto competitions and then vote on who they want to "evict". Don't worry though, like in Survivor, the camper voted out can choose to watch the rest of the competition or participate in other camp activities.
Week 5 - "Olympics" This one is pretty self-explainitory. Campers are divided into groups and choose a country they wish to represent. This can be either a fictional country or a real one. Then they compete for Olympic Gold in a series of fun, sometimes crazy, sports and games!
Week 6 - "Halloween in August" Halloween is coming early this year! On this day, campers share scary stories and have some spooky fun as our camp gets transformed into a haunted house!
Week 7 - "Hell's Kitchen" Based on the popular TV show, Hell's Kitchen is a competition for our culinary campers. Don't worry, our Hell's Kitchen is strictly PG and no one is getting burned; all of our food is CANDY!
